Sedona Fire has responded to an increased number of heat-related injuries on the trails

Over the last few days, Sedona Fire has responded to an increased number of heat-related injuries on the trails around Sedona. Officials say on Thursday crews assisted ten different groups, primarily on the Devils Bridge trail, who were unprepared for the extreme heat. Officials say some precautions everyone should consider before venturing out on the trail are: Avoiding the hottest time of day, usually around noon to 3pm.  Choosing a hike that keeps you under the shade of trees or within steep canyon walls, rather than exposed directly to the sun. Devils Bridge Trail, Airport Loop Trail and South Wilson Trail are examples of trails to be avoided during the heat of the day. And while hiking, constantly sipping water to stay hydrated, which is much better than drinking larger amount less frequently.
