Today is the Summer Solstice

Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day and shortest night in the Northern Hemisphere and the first official day of summer – even if it has felt like summer for a while now. The June solstice marks the time when the sun’s direct rays reach their northern most peak. As a result, we see the sun take its highest and longest path through the sky. Giving us the benefit of about 5 more hours of daylight than we see on the winter solstice in December.
