The National Weather Service in Bellemont says the monsoon won’t likely bring us any moisture again until July. Meteorologists say the models show a strong high pressure ridge settling over the west for the rest of June. As a result, the Climate Prediction Center indicates the odds tilted toward drier and warmer than normal conditions for most of northern Arizona through this period. Most of northern Arizona received some rainfall over the weekend, but not enough to substantially alter the current drought status. Most areas received anywhere from a quarter-inch-to-an-inch of precipitation. The warm, dry and breezy weather expected this week is expected to minimize the benefits of the rainfall over the weekend with no change in our drought status expected. Wildfire danger will remain extreme in the state.
