Over the weekend, both the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expanded their public warnings about Kellogg’s Honey Smacks the cereal. On Thursday, Kelloggs initiated a recall of certain sized boxes of Honey Smacks with certain date codes. Public health officials are now saying regardless of the package size or date codes, consumers should not eat any Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal. The CDC says more than 73 people have been sickened and 24 hospitalized with Salmonella infections in 31 states from the contaminated cereal. Consumers are being urged to throw away all Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal, or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
