Sunday morning, DPS responded a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 89, approximately 20 miles north of Flagstaff. Trooper Kameron Lee says a Ford pickup, driven by a 42-year old male from Kaibeto, crossed over the centerline where it collided head on with a motorcycle driven by 58-year old Cathy Coppes, of Chandler. Lee says Coppes, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. She was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the pickup, who was not wearing seat belts at the time of collision, was transported to FMC for treatment of his injuries. Lee says the investigation is on-going at this time and impairment has not been ruled out. Coppes was a 911 dispatcher for Chandler police who had been with department for over 17 years.
