Just after 3 pm Wednesday, Central Arizona Fire and Medical crews responded to a structure fire on Windmill acres Road in Prescott Valley. Battalion Chief Brad Davis says a heavy column of smoke could be seen as crews left the station.Davis says first arriving crews found home 50% involved. The homeowner and dogs were able to get out of the home, after being alerted to the fire by passersby.Davis says the homeowner having his grass cut short enabled crews to keep the fire from spreading beyond approximately 1/4 acre despite the wind. The home was a total loss. The cause is still under investigation.
