The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests Officials say although Stage II Fire Restrictions are in effect and area closures had been implemented before Memorial Day Weekend, they found more than a dozen illegal campfires. Law enforcement were able to catch and cite the individuals responsible. Officials also say 3 wildfires were recorded off of Forest Road 178 northeast of Forest Lakes. The 11-acre Wildcat Fire, and the less than an acre Smith Fire and Juniper Fire. All three wildfires are now contained. Criminal charges are being filed against a juvenile male, who intentionally set all 3 of these fires.
