YCSO will be first in the State implementing the Reach Out Initiative pilot program intended to reduce inmate recidivism in people with mental and substance use disorders by coordinating community reentry services upon release. Recently, Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill which appropriates the sum of $500,000 over the next 3 years to fund the project. The Reach Out Initiative involves the crossover of multiple systems, including mental health, substance use, law enforcement, community corrections, social services and many others. The goal is to improve cross-system collaborations in order to reduce recidivism.
