Abandoned and illegal campfires were found over the weekend. Coconino National Forest officials found the most with 40-abandoned campfires found above the Mogollon Rim where restrictions are not yet in place. Spokesman Brady Smith says however they did find 6 illegal campfires on the Red Rock Ranger District, which went into Stage-1 Fire Restrictions last Friday. Prescott National Forest law enforcement found 6 illegal campfires outside of developed recreation sites and 2 abandoned campfires within developed recreation sites. Kaibab National Forest crews found zero abandoned campfires. Before heading out, the public is encouraged to check on restrictions by visiting www.firerestrictions.us
