Late Monday evening, Copper Canyon Fire and Medical were dispatched to Southbound I-17 near Camp Verde for a motor vehicle accident. Battalion Chief Steve Sarkesian says the crash involved a car and a pickup. Sarkesian says the car was blocking both southbound lanes and the pickup was upside down in the median. He says one passenger was flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital and a second patient was transported by ground to another area hospital. DPS is investigating the cause of the accident. I-17 was closed for 2.5 hours.
