Central Arizona Fire and Medical Fire Marshall Rick Chase says residents using propane torches to burn weeds caused multiple fires this past week. Chase says although propane torches are sold in our area they are not allowed to be used to burn weeds, which must be put in a pile and burned in a safe and contained manner according to the rules on the burn permit. He also says burn permits must be obtained for every burn. Chase says we are quickly approaching the time of year where extreme fire danger will be present and all types of burning will be suspended.
