At Wednesday’s Yavapai County Board of Supervisors meeting, Chairman Rowle Simmons signed a proclamation declaring April as “Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Yavapai County. According to the National Safety Council, motor vehicle fatalities are up 6% from 2015, with more than 40,000 people killed in 2017. Officials say cell phones and other digital distractions pose a threat to our safety and just one second is all it takes to change a life forever. The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors encourages motorists to hang up their cell phones, focus on what they are doing and just drive.
