DPS is remembering on of their fallen troopers today. 27-year old Brett Buckmister is the youngest DPS officer to lose his life in the line of duty. On this day in 2000, Trooper Buckmister died from injuries suffered in a traffic collision within the city limits of Page. Buckmister was headed southbound on Highway-89 when his patrol car and a van collided. Three people in the van were also killed in the collision, which occurred during a rain and snow storm. He had served with DPS for one year, one month and one day when he was killed.
