9/2 Verde Search and Rescue responded to Devils Bridge in Sedona recently on a report of a lost hiker. The east coast woman called 911, via the SOS option on her phone, as the sun went down. Rescuers responded and located the woman about a third of a mile away from the trailhead. Officials say after she sent out the SOS, she remained in place, which helped rescuers locate her quickly. She was helped out of the area and back to her vehicle. She told rescuers she had lost her map during the hike and could not find her way out of the area as the sun went down. Officials say she did the right thing by calling for help and then remaining in place.
