3/27 The National Interagency Fire Center says there are currently 51-uncontained large fires, with 2,331-personnel assigned to incidents in the U.S. On March 20-th, the National Preparedness Level increased to 2, signaling that resources remain available to fight fires, but the number of wildfires in growing. Several geographic areas are experiencing increased activity and are beginning to draw on national resources. Officials say the Northern, Southern and Central Great Plains are all seeing extreme fire spread and behavior, not typically seen in March. The public is reminded to do whatever they can to prevent starting a fire, including, dousing campfires whenever left unattended and making sure nothing metal is dragging while towing.
