2/17 Tonto National Forest officials are asking gun enthusiasts to be careful with were they’re target shoot and what they’re shooting with. The leading cause of wildfires on the Tonto National Forest is humans. Exploding targets, tracer ammo and incendiary ammo are illegal year-round on public lands, always place targets on dirt or gravel, away from grass, and at the base of hills, never shoot uphill and bring a bucket of water with you in case a fire does start. This winter has been unusually dry so fires will be quick to start.
