6/15 Kingman Police and the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office caught a man who allegedly defrauded an elderly victim out of more than $113-thousand. Officials say the victim befriended the suspect on social media. The suspect convinced the victim to invest in cryptocurrencies. The victim was told to take a picture of the money he was investing and then turn that money over to a courier at a determined location. It was learned the suspect was attempting to steal another $65-thousand from the victim, but this time police showed up and arrested the courier, who was identified as 40-year-old Jay Jin Xia of California. Xia was jailed on charges of fraud and the investigation continues.
