3/20 DPS stopped a commercial vehicle on I-40 recently that was being driving on its rims. Officials say the trooper came upon the semi about 10-miles east of Winslow. The driver stated he was trying to make it to Winslow for repairs. A mechanical failure at the front axle hub, resulted in the loss of both tires and wheels. As the driver continued driving, the rear axle tires became overloaded, leading to a blowout. Fortunately the sparks from the vehicle did not ignite a roadside fire.
