Prescott Woman Scammed out of $20,000

9/21 A Prescott woman was scammed out of $20-thousand. Prescott Police say the woman received a call from someone claiming to be with Amazon. The suspect told the victim someone was trying to charge thousands of dollars in merchandise to her account. The victim was then put in touch with a fake U.S. Marshal and then a fake Prescott Police officer. The suspects convinced the woman to mail the $20-thousand to an address. They then tried to get her to purchase gold, but a bank employee noticed the scam and stopped any further transactions. It’s not clear if the money will ever be recovered.
