5/13 A Prescott area woman was recently scammed out of $50,000. YCSO says the suspect contacted the victim and told her there was a fraudulent charge on her Apple account she would be arrested if she didn’t pay a fine. The suspect told her to withdraw the money from her bank and if the bank asked what the money was for, she should lie, or she would be arrested. The suspect then met the victim outside her home, had her put the money in the truck on his car, and he drove away. The woman realized she had been scammed a few hours later, but by then YCSO was unable to locate the suspect. Officials say they’ve seen a serious increase in fraud cases already this year.
