12/8 The Arizona Historical Society says Pioneer Museum in Flagstaff is scheduled to open next spring after being closed for an extended period of time. Officials say they hired Kathy Farretta to be the new Museum Manager, a position that’s been vacant for the past 5-years. She’ll help with the ongoing planning, coordination, and updates required for reopening the location. The Pioneer Museum first opened in 1963. The structure was built in 1908 as the Coconino County Hospital for the poor.
