6/02 An individual took their own life while running from police Monday morning. Payson Police say they received word that a suspect in a homicide case in Peoria was headed their way. The vehicle was spotted and a pursuit ensued, involving both Payson Polie and the Gila County Sheriff’s Office. The chase ended at the turnoff to Pine Trailhead, along Highway-87. The suspect fled on foot and was found a short time later with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other details have been released.
