5/27 The Greer Fire in Greer was declared 100% contained Monday evening. Residents and visitors are advised that smoke may still be visible in the area as interior pockets of fuel continues to burn. Firefighters will continue to patrol the fire over the next few days. Motorists traveling through the area are urged to drive cautiously, as crews and equipment are still present on local roads. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire charred over 20-thousand acres.
