7/27 DPS announced the sudden death of K9 Jack over the weekend. Officials say the 18-month-old German Shepherd died suddenly over the weekend. Veterinarian staff found that Jack had an undiagnosed birth defect, which led to his death. Jack, a dual-purpose patrol and narcotics detection K9, had only been on the job since this past February.
