2/5 A DPS helicopter crashed last night while helping Flagstaff Police with an active shooter incident. Flagstaff Police say officers responded to the shooting incident and the helicopter crew was giving tactical support. For unknown reasons the helicopter crashed, killing the pilot and the trooper/paramedic on board. Just before the crash, officers had been involved in a shooting with the suspect, who suffered non-life-threatening wounds. The DPS Major Incident Division has taken control of the shooting investigation while the FAA and NTSB investigate what caused the crash. No names have been released.
