3/24 The Flagstaff Police Department and Coconino County Attorney’s Office Cold Case Unit made an arrest in a 40-year-old homicide case. Officials say they arrested 62-year-old James Runnels Jr. of Glendale for the November 7-th, 1987 murder of 24-year-old Ina Langstaff. The NAU student was found stabbed to death outside her apartment in Flagstaff’s Old Town neighborhood. Items submitted for advanced forensic DNA testing led to the arrest. Runnels lived in Flagstaff at the time of the murder.
