PNF Adopts Food and Trash Closure Order to Deter Bears Eating Trash

10/5 Prescott National Forest has adopted new food storage rules. A closure order has been issued, which requires food and trash to be stored either in a vehicle or a wildlife resistant container. Officials say the order is the result of increased bear activity, especially in the Groom Creek area near Prescott. Over the past 2-years, bears have been eating the trash left behind. The order applies to all lands within the Prescott National Forest.
