Additional Flooding and Additional Damages in Grand Canyon

9/18 Grand Canyon National Park crews are re-assessing damages after another flash flood moved through Bright Angel Canyon Wednesday afternoon, damaging temporary water infrastructure being constructed as part of the park’s ongoing recovery from the August 29-th flood event. Workers were able to seek higher ground as the waters came through and no injuries were reported. The temporary intake was under construction to help restore water service to the South Rim. Officials say a new pipeline on the south side of the canyon was not damaged and the park is working to bring the line into service as quickly as possible. Stage 4 water restrictions remain in effect.
