9/16 The Chinle area was hit hard by flash flooding Tuesday. The Navajo Department of Emergency Management coordinated 3-rescue operations and was establishing an emergency shelter at the Chinle Chapter House. Waters have since receded, but additional flooding is possible today and tomorrow. The Navajo Nation Commission on Emergency Management scheduled a meeting to discuss the next steps. The Navajo Division of Transportation is on standby to provide support.
