9/4 The search continues today for 53-year-old Timothy Smith, who was swept away by flood waters in the Grand Canyon last weekend. Park officials say search teams focused downstream to Laval Falls Thursday. Additional searchers and K9 units are arriving today to help find the Star Valley, Wyoming man. Teams continue to assess the level of damage to the infrastructure at Phantom Ranch, working to address electrical issues. A team is also assessing stream gauges and debris flow in the area to better understand the impacts of the flood and if any of the gauges were damaged and need to be replaced. Park officials are also assessing the damages to the Transcanyon Waterline. Stage-4 water restrictions will remain in place at the canyon for the foreseeable future.
