8/31 The Department of Public Safety is remembering two fallen Troopers today. On this date in 1990, Trooper David Gabrielli and Sgt. John Blaser were struck and killed by a DUI driver while investigating an earlier crash on Highway-89 in Tucson. Both were standing in the median when they were hit from behind by the drunk driver. Gabrielli died on scene and Blaser later died from his injuries at an area hospital. The suspect was convicted of manslaughter and reckless endangerment.
