6/19 The Cottonwood and Prescott Police Departments are warning residents about a scam targeting customers of local banks and credit unions. Scammers are posing as federal fraud investigators and falsely claiming that a financial institution is being shut down. Victims are being told to withdraw funds, transfer money, or even send cash via FedEx to protect their money from seizure or loss. If you receive a call, text, or email making these claims, do not provide personal or account information and don’t withdraw, transfer, or mail funds. Contact your financial institution directly using official contact information.
