4/1 Highway-87, between Phoenix and Payson, was closed overnight while DPS conducted a fatal hit-and-run investigation. Officials say just before 10-pm last night, there was a fatal hit-and-run crash, just south of Payson. Troopers arrived to find a man dead in the southbound lanes; his vehicle was located along the side of the highway a short distance away. The driver of the alleged at-fault vehicle was located and stopped several miles away and was being questioned. No names have been released.
