3/30 DPS recently stopped a driver going 111-mph, on northbound I-17, near the Schnebly Hill Road exit. The driver claimed he was headed to Snowbowl and wanted to arrive when it opened and that’s the reason for the speed. Officials say the driver appeared to be impaired and open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle. A records check revealed he had already been suspended from driving due to a previous DUI arrest. His vehicle also had expired registration and no insurance. He was jailed for aggravated DUI, open container, excessive speed, and aggressive driving. His vehicle was impounded for 20-days.
