1/5 YCSO and Yavapai County Search and Rescue or SAR were busy New Year’s Day with 3-rescues. Officials say each rescue was hampered by rain, cooling temperatures and hypothermia. Just before 6-pm, searchers responded to a call of a 55-year-old hiker who fell off a ledge and suffered a leg injury in the Bumble Bee area. Rescuers reached the man and built a campfire to keep everyone warm while they waited for a helicopter. All were eventually flown to safety. At 6:20-pm, deputies responded to a call of lost hiker in the Blue Tank Wash area near Wickenburg. The woman was located and escorted to her vehicle. At 6:30-pm, deputies responded to Sedona on a report of a lost hiker. The hiker was found and was also escorted out of the area.
