1/9 Numerous weather-related crashes forced the closure of several highways as well as I-17 and I-40 yesterday. Yesterday afternoon at 12:30, Copper Canyon Fire and Verde Valley Fire, responded to a 12-vehicle crash on northbound I-17. The incident occurred as heavy sleet was falling and the roads became slick. Officials say there were a total of 17-people involved in the incident with 5 being transported to VVMC with minor injuries. The crash forced the closure of the Interstate for 2-hours while all the vehicles were cleared. Motorists were driving too fast on the slick roadways.
