Let’s Start Writing – In 100 Words @ Prescott Valley Public Library

Prescott Valley Public Library (7401 East Skoog Blvd, Prescott Valley, AZ) is offering four sessions of Let’s Start Writing – In 100 Words. These sessions will be held on Wednesdays –January 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th, 2020, from 9:30 am – 11:00 am in the 2nd Floor PC Lab.  We will be generating ideas and helping each other become better 100 word writers!  Come and create with us.

No registration is required, but space is limited.  Classes are held in the 2nd Floor PC Lab.

Cody Drake the Arizona Treasure Hunter @ Prescott Valley Public Library

Prescott Valley Public Library (7401 East Skoog Blvd.) will be hosting Cody Drake the Arizona Treasure Hunter. Cody Drake will present his life as a prospector & treasure hunter.  He will share his major discoveries, about his time doing survival alone in the desert as well as going over tips and tricks to help other treasure hunters.

Cody Drake is dedicated and knowledgeable. He puts his entire heart and soul into educating people about Arizona history and its treasures. He sacrifices a lot so he can do a lot of field work (which he loves) and traveling so he can share his adventures with everyone. He not only teaches about Arizona history, but how to survive this state’s very diverse landscape. Cody truly is a master at all he does and we are truly lucky to get to learn and be a part of the Arizona treasure hunter’s world.

This program is free.  No registration is required.

Master Gardener Talk: Attracting Pollinators and Bees @ Prescott Valley Public Library

Prescott Valley Public Library (7401 East Skoog Blvd.) will be hosting Master Gardener Talk: Attracting Pollinators and Bees. This presentation will provide an overview of pollinators that frequent our local area and provide ideas as to what plants will not only attract birds, bees and butterflies but beautify your yard.   In addition, we will discuss the process of pollination and how to provide a healthy environment for our garden guests.

Laurin Pause completed the Master Gardening course in May 2019 and is currently an associate Master Gardener. A resident of Stone Ridge in Prescott Valley, she is an avid backyard gardener, applying the information gained in the classroom to all aspects of caring for her yard and that of her community. One of her passions is to educate children and adults in the art of growing and eating healthy foods.

This program is free.  No registration is required.

University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Offers Fruit Tree Pruning Demonstrations

 

Its fruit tree pruning season and the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, Yavapai County is offering two free deciduous fruit tree pruning demonstrations conducted by Extension Agent, Jeff Schalau. Come and learn why, when, and how to prune your backyard fruit trees. Demonstrations will cover apples, pears, plums, peaches, nectarines, cherries, and more. Fertilization, irrigation and fruit thinning will also be discussed.

 

Two pruning demonstrations are scheduled. The first will be held on Saturday February 15, 2020 at 10 AM at the Marmaduke Orchard, 3435 S Silver Rd, Camp Verde. The second will be held on Saturday February 29, 2018 at 10 AM at the McLandress Orchard, 850 S. Maricopa St, Chino Valley. It is not necessary to register – just come and learn!

 

Maps and directions to these workshops are available on the Yavapai County Cooperative Extension web site: cals.arizona.edu/yavapai/pruning/. Signs will be posted prior to the workshops to help participants find the locations.
