Sedona Historical Society Hosts Annual Pioneer & Community Picnic @ Sedona Heritage Museum
Oct 3 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The Sedona Historical Society will host its annual Pioneer and Community Picnic at the Sedona Heritage Museum on Sunday, October 3 at noon.  Sedona pioneer descendants and old-timers will be special guests. Residents interested in learning more about local history are invited, but must RSVP.  Seats are limited.

This is a wonderful event to be enjoyed by anyone interested in meeting Sedona pioneer descendants and long-time residents.  Light lunch will be provided by the Sedona Heritage Museum because safety precautions due to covid-19 prevent the usual potluck format.  Old-timers are encouraged to bring historic photos and artifacts to share, and newcomers are encouraged to bring their curiosity and interest in local history.

After lunch, a microphone will be passed around to pioneer descendants and old-timers who will tell stories of early Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona life and times.  All Sedona history memories encouraged.

For more information and to RSVP, call 928-282-7038.  The Sedona Historical Society’s mission is to research, preserve and teach the history of the greater Sedona area.  As part of that effort the Society operates the Sedona Heritage Museum at 735 Jordan Rd. in Uptown Sedona.

Space for Fort Verde Days Parade & Vendors

Camp Verde Parks & Recreation has openings for parade entries and outside vendors for the 65th annual Fort Verde Days on October 9 & 10. The parade on Oct. 9 will feature long time community members Dick and Brenda Hauser as the Grand Marshals. The parade kicks off at 10 am from behind the Basha’s Supermarket on Finnie Flat Rd. and continues up the hill onto Main Street passing through the center of Town and then out onto General Crook Trail to finish. Parade registration is $10 per entry. There are also still outside vendor spaces available. With plenty of good weather and lots of attendees, the event is a great place to showcase and sell your products. Vendor and parade applications can be found at visitcampverde.com under the Events tab.

The activity schedule is coming together with live bands on both days. Saturday is Aaron McCall band from 12-2 and Peaceful Outlaws from 3-5 followed by Swamp Poets 5:30 -7:30. Sunday sees the Seth Brown Band onstage from 1-3. New this year will be the Kid’s Adventure Zone both days. With 2 inflatable obstacle courses, challenge games including jousting and bungee ball race and more there is fun for all. There will also be pony rides and a dunk tank to benefit a non-profit.

The parade theme this year will be “Desert Life”, a celebration of living here in the Verde Valley. Parade float ideas might include the plants and animals of the Verde Valley as well as examples of how you or your ancestors lived here in the valley. Highlighting the unique aspects of life in the high desert with a river oasis through it is another possibility. These examples may be historical, current or even a future prediction of this life. Categories for the parade award entries include Individual, Community Group and Business as well as People’s Choice.  At just over 1 mile and a small incline up to Main Street, the parade is not too stressful for most.

Yavapai College and Larry Green Chevrolet are Platinum level sponsors of this year’s event. SRP continues as a Gold level sponsor for the event to help provide quality free community events in Camp Verde. Camp Verde ACE Hardware and Allegra Printing of Cottonwood are supporting sponsors. Volunteers are needed to help with the event so if you are interested, please email [email protected] .

VOICES FOR THE NATIONS – INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S DAY BENEFIT FESTIVAL @ Jackpot Ranch
Oct 10 all-day

JACKPOT RANCH, CAMP VERDE, ARIZONA, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10TH, 10 am to 10 pm
PLEASE HELP US IN SUPPORTING OUR ARIZONA NATIVE NEIGHBORS
“Answer the Call to Come Back Home”
Our Vision at Voices for the Nations is to raise global awareness, empowerment, and
support for the current challenges facing indigenous peoples. We create festivals that unify all
cultures, celebrate ancestral ways, and bring humanity back to the remembrance of their souls’
existence to music, art, community, earth, and spirit.
The Mission of our nonprofit is to co-create with likeminded musicians, artisans, community
visionaries, and eco-conscious businesses that are passionate about providing a platform for local
tribes to be seen, heard, experienced, and felt.
The Red Feather Mission:
Red Feather envisions a world where healthy and safe housing is available to all. They partner with
Native American tribes and nations to develop and implement sustainable solutions to their housing
needs.
Red Feather and its supported communities need our help. The decimation of Covid-19 has
exacerbated many of the ongoing challenges in native communities and providing information
about, as well as the opportunity to contribute to Red Feather’s programs is our group’s goal.
Ours will be an all day/night musical event on a lush 80-acre equestrian ranch featuring musicians,
artists, and vendors from across Arizona and neighboring states. We seek corporate sponsors, and
financial and material support in the following areas for executing our one-day event:
Buddha Farms Events, (Buddha Farms, LLC) of Sedona AZ will be producing a benefit concert
and fundraiser supporting the Red Feather Development Group headquartered in Flagstaff,
Arizona. Red Feather is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has been active in
supporting native communities with an array of life betterment initiatives. Buddha Farms is a
holistic wellness lifestyle company that promotes events to help raise awareness and support in the
community and is owned and operated by Nanaiya and Morgan Craft, and Morgan is a regular
volunteer for Red Feather initiatives. This creation is a personal journey to help heal the world one
being at a time. Please join us!
