The recent COVID-19 pandemic has seriously impacted our small business community with nearly 62% of small businesses in the U.S. reporting they need to see consumer spending returned to pre-COVID levels by the end of 2020 in order to stay in business. Often times we forget just how important of a role small business plays in our everyday lives. For example, did you know that small businesses in the United States accounted for nearly 65% of the net new jobs created from 2000 to 2008, or that small businesses employ nearly 47.3% of the employees in the private sector in the United States? The contributions small businesses make to our local economy and community should never be underestimated or taken for granted and it is for this reason the City of Cottonwood recently adopted a Proclamation recognizing the importance of small businesses and declaring November 28, 2020, as SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY.
In an effort to show its support, the City of Cottonwood is encouraging and urging all residents of our community to celebrate the importance of small business by supporting small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.
