Over the last several months, the City of Prescott has embarked on a comprehensive review of the City’s Water Management Policy and conservation efforts. With the help of newer technologies and utility billing data, the City is now able to determine existing water use as well as project potential water uses in the future.

The new data indicates Prescott’s water use continues to decline due to conservation and the recharge ratio has increased over time due to management practices, which ultimately offsets net groundwater pumping. Details have been presented to City Council in a series of Work Study Sessions this summer, and are the basis for a series of proposed policy and code change recommendations.  Prior to Council voting on the proposed changes the City will hold a series of community meetings to gather additional input from residents.

Four open-house meetings are scheduled, throughout the community, for the public to learn more about the policy changes and ask questions.
