11/19 DPS remembers Trooper William Murie who died on this date in 1980. Trooper Murie was in-route to Phoenix from Flagstaff on November 16-th, 1980, when he stopped just north of Phoenix on I-17 to assist at a crash scene. He was struck by a passing vehicle, crushing his legs and a wrist. Complications from the injuries resulted in his death 3-days later.
