10/22 Prescott, Prescott Police and Prescott Police Officer Brian Sutton are being sued by the mother of 34-year-old Daniel Leslie, who was shot and killed during a domestic violence call last June. DPS recently finished their investigation into the shooting and referred the case to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review. The investigation determined that an unarmed Leslie was shot 3-times by Officer Sutton as he tried to run back inside the house. The claim alleges Officer Sutton unlawfully shot and killed Leslie after he exercised his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to speak with police. Other claims being pursued include negligence, gross negligence and wrongful death. The family is asking for $20-million.
