Humboldt Unified School District Closed Schools Today

From HUSD:

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel school on Friday, April 5th, for all Humboldt Unified Schools due to recent criminal activity in our community. While we are confident that students and staff were safe while in school on Thursday, April 4th, we understand and acknowledge the concerns that are circulating. Therefore, we wish to exercise extreme caution.

We understand that this closure may cause inconvenience, and we apologize for any disruption to your plans. It is important to note that all incidents occurred overnight, and there are no prevalent threats to our campuses. Law enforcement has assured us of the safety of our schools. However, we have chosen to err on the side of caution and cancel classes. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities, and this decision has been made to ensure everyone’s safety.

–At no time was there a possible shooting or bomb threat.

–Bradshaw Mountain High School experienced some criminal damage. It was not an electrical fire, as previously thought.

–Coyote Springs Elementary had a fire alarm go off due to a leak in the gymnasium. Students were evacuated to the fields, and buses were on standby if we needed to move students to a different location. Students returned to the building once it was identified as only a water leak.

–All other campuses, including Glassford Hill Middle School, operated normally.
