I-17 lane restrictions next week through Improvement Project area

Drivers on Interstate 17 should plan for nightly lane restrictions Aug. 12-17

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan for overnight lane restrictions throughout the I-17 Improvement Project corridor during the upcoming week. The restrictions will begin the evening of Monday, Aug. 12, and end the morning of Saturday, Aug. 17, as work continues on the I-17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, drive with caution and reduce their speed around construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are in place:

Closures at Coldwater Road under I-17:

  • Coldwater Road under Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for three nights to install falsework and equipment below the bridge over I-17. Coldwater Road will be closed the evenings of Wednesday, Aug. 14, Thursday, Aug. 15, and Friday, Aug. 16, with work finishing up the morning of Saturday, Aug. 17. All Coldwater Road traffic will be detoured during the closures.
  • As part of the ongoing bridge work, the I-17 bridge clearance over Coldwater Road has been reduced to 13 feet, 6 inches. The reduced bridge clearance will be in effect for several months. Vehicles taller than 13 feet, 6 inches will be detoured.

Please take a few minutes to let us know how we did between Jan. 1 and July 31, 2024, by completing this survey. Your responses will help us determine how we can improve construction activities and communications efforts moving forward. We would appreciate your response by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024.
