Georgia Man Sentenced To Life Plus 17 Years In Prison For Child Sex Crimes

Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announced that on April 24, 2024, Dennis Evan Carraher, 59, of Georgia, was sentenced to life in prison for Sexual Conduct with a Minor Under the Age of Twelve and a sentenced to a consecutive 17 years in prison for Molestation of a Child Under the Age of Fifteen, following a March 2024 jury trial.

County Attorney Dennis McGrane stated, “I have zero tolerance for anyone who abuses a child. This life sentence sends a strong message to child molesters that they will be aggressively prosecuted and punished if they victimize children in Yavapai County.”

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed that Carraher was a friend of a family with two young children, one of whom was only seven years old. Carraher used his relationship with the family to gain access to, and abuse, both children. The younger child eventually reported the abuse, and the case was thoroughly investigated by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department.
