Two Arrested on Drug and Weapons Charges

Partners against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) detectives this month arrested two brothers on multiple drug- and weapons-related charges in Cottonwood. Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Detectives said they took into custody suspects 23 year old Evan Blackwood and Blackwood’s 18-year-old younger brother, Michael Smith, after executing a search warrant on Blackwood’s residence. PANT officials said they gathered enough information and evidence on Blackwood, currently on probation, to search his residence. Detectives said they found Smith with a handgun and a few fentanyl pills on his person. Detectives added that they found an AK47 with three loaded magazines; a Remington 870 shotgun; a Hi-Point 9 mm handgun; two fentanyl pills.
