UPDATE: Arizona Senate Race

With thousands of “late early” ballots still to be counted, Arizona State Senate candidate Ken Bennett continued to hold onto a slim lead late Thursday over fellow candidate Steve Zipperman in the Republican primary race for the Legislative District 1 State Senate seat.

Yesterday the Yavapai County Recorder’s Office updated the numbers from the Aug. 2 primary results, adding about 1,600 more ballots to the count for the Legislative District 1 Republican State Senate race the closest of the district’s legislative races in the Aug. 2 primary. Thursday’s numbers showed that Bennett was in the lead by 90 votes.

The updated numbers had Bennett with 22,307 votes (50.1%) to Zipperman’s 22,217 votes (49.9%).
