Monsoon rain could help with Flagstaff area fires

The start of the Monsoon season is expecting to bring an end to the Pipeline and
Haywire fires sooner than later. Currently, over 26-thousand acres have burned
on the Pipeline Fire, with 70-percent containment. Nearly 56-hundred acres have
burned on the Haywire Fire with 50-percent containment. Due to the drying trend
the last few days, scattered heat and smoke are still present within the fire
perimeter as interior pockets continue to burn unconsumed fuels; however,
anticipated moisture will bring an increase in cloud cover and lower temperatures
with minimal fire activity expected. In containment areas, suppression repair will
take place to repair constructed dozer lines, as well as roads and trails that were
used as fireline.
