The Arizona Senate Ethics Committee is opening an investigation into Senator Wendy Rogers’
social media post after Saturday’s mass shooting in Buffalo, New York. The Senate voted 24-
to-3 Monday to examine Rogers’ remarks “as inappropriate to an elected official.” After the
shooting that killed ten people at a supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood,
Rogers posted on the Telegram social media site: “Fed boy summer has started in Buffalo.” A
number of political observers and journalists said that meant she was calling the shooting a
“false flag” operation by federal authorities. Before Monday’s Senate vote, Rogers tweeted,
“Of course I condemn the violence in Buffalo, who doesn’t?”
