Crews respond to Arcosanti Fire

The Arcosanti Fire is moving to the north/northeast through grass and brush, north of
Cordes Lakes. Aircraft, including three Large Air Tankers are supporting ground crews
to help slow the fire’s forward movement. Two AZForestry hand crews are engaged,
including the T2 Lewis Crew who are conducting burning operations off a roadway as
part of suppression tactics. While the fire’s activity has slowed, crews are also working
to provide protection to power lines ahead of the fire. Approximately eight engines are
also assigned, along with a T3 helicopter, an Air Attack platform, and a Lead plane. The
fire is estimated at 60 acres and the threat to I-17 has decreased, but drivers should still
use caution in the area.
